Shows I Would Love to See on Broadway

August 13, 2018

No matter how many great shows are on Broadway, there are things I would love to see come to Broadway, whether from regional theaters or from London. Here's a list of five shows I would love to make their way to the Great White Way.

1. Everybody's Talking About Jamie - I first heard about this show when they were nominated for several Olivier awards this year. Once I began listening to the cast album, and learning more about the documentary that was the basis for the show, I began to really fall in love with it. The music is amazing (you can find the cast album on Spotify) and the story behind it is pretty incredible. You can learn about the real Jamie here

2. Jagged Little Pill - I have been very vocal to many of my friends and family about how much I want this show to come to Broadway this season. I was a bit of a fan of the original album before I heard they were turning it into a musical, and I'm a massive fan of the cast who participated in the run at American Rep. I heard nothing but good things about the show and I would love to see it get recognition on Broadway.

3. Moulin Rouge! - Since seeing this show last week, I have been unable to get it out of my head. The sets, the costumes, the music, and the actors all blew me away like nothing else has. While the Boston run is advertised as the pre-Broadway run, I hope it arrives on Broadway sooner rather than later so everyone can experience how incredible it is.

4. Diana - Like many people, I have a fascination with the British royal family, and over a year ago I was very excited to hear that a musical called Diana was in the works, with the same creatives who wrote Memphis, and that it would have its premiere at La Jolla Playhouse (where the likes of Escape to Margaritaville, Summer, and Come From Away have come from). Additionally, it will be directed by Tony winner Christopher Ashley, and choreographed by Kelly Devine. From what I've heard the show is aimed for Broadway, and I hope we see it as a late addition to the 2018/19 season, or an early addition to the 2019/20 Broadway season.

5. Love Never Dies - Many have loved this sequel to Phantom of the Opera throughout its North American tour, and I saw it in Hartford. It would be incredible to see it play on Broadway, even if it's only for a limited engagement, as more people would have a chance to see it and learn what happens next.
