Leave a Light On: Grace Mouat

Updated: Jan 2, 2021

The Theatre Cafe's Leave a Light On series has continued in recent weeks, with a live-streamed concert from many more West End artists, including Grace Mouat. She was the original swing in Six, covering all six tracks of the show, and currently is a part of the ensemble in &Juliet, as well as being the first cover for Juliet.

The concert was a lovely mix of pop songs, gender bent musical numbers, and nods to the shows she's been in. She opened the concert with "Pack Up" by Eliza Doolittle, followed by "Heart of Stone" from Six, as she made her West End debut as Jane Seymour when she was a swing.

She also featured a song from &Juliet, "Oops I Did It Again," in between gender bent versions of "Freeze Your Brain" from Heathers, and "Waving Through a Window" from Dear Evan Hansen. Also, in a nod to her time spent as a party princess, usually Moana, she sang "How Far I'll Go." The show ended with two very touching songs, "You've Got a Friend in Me," from Toy Story and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," which she performed as a thank you to all the key workers who are keeping the world running during this very scary time.

The concert was absolutely lovely, and it was such a treat to hear her incredible voice, as it absolutely blew me away. It was especially nice to hear a song from &Juliet, as I was reminded of the positivity that radiates from the show itself. The Leave a Light On series is continuing with many more upcoming performances, but if you're looking for something to put a smile on your face, I would recommend checking out this video of Grace and the cast of &Juliet performing "I Want It That Way." I guarantee it will leave a smile on your face.
