King Kong sets Broadway closing date
The recipient of a 2019 special Tony Award, King Kong, will play its final Broadway performance on August 18. The puppet of King Kong himself and those who created and operate it received a special Tony for their work. A production is planned for Shanghai in 2021.
Marisa Tomei to lead Broadway revival of The Rose Tattoo
After a run in 2016 at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Roundabout Theatre Company is bringing The Rose Tattoo to Broadway this fall, as the first show of their 2019-2020 season. Marisa Tomei will star as Serafina, with more casting to announced at a later date.
Alanis Morrissette musical Jagged Little Pill sets Broadway dates!
After receiving rave reviews during a tryout at American Repertory Theater, the jukebox musical Jagged Little Pill will be coming to Broadway this fall. It was recently announced that the show will play the Broadhurst Theatre, with previews beginning on November 5 ahead of an official opening set for December 3.
Ivo van Hove's revival of West Side Story announces Broadway cast and theater
West Side Story is getting an updated revival from Ivo van Hove this winter. Previews will begin on December 10 at the Broadway Theatre ahead of an official opening on February 6. The cast includes Isaac Cole Powell as Tony, Shereen Pimentel as Maria, Ben Cook as Riff, and Yesenia Ayala as Anita.
Pretty Woman: The Musical to close on Broadway
It was announced that the new Broadway musical based on the movie starring Julia Roberts will be closing on August 18. For the last month of the run, Brennin Hunt and Jillian Mueller will take on the roles of Edward and Vivian following the departure of original stars Samantha Barks and Andy Karl.

This summer, the Olivier Award nominated musical Six, about the wives of Henry VIII with play Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. It was also announced that it will be part of American Rep's 2019-2020 season at the Loeb Drama Center.
What the Constitution Means to Me recoups on Broadway
After opening to rave reviews on March 31, What the Constitution Means to Me, which extended multiple times, has recouped its Broadway investment. The production will run through August 24 and a national tour is planned for the 2019-20 season.
Waitress to close on Broadway
After almost four years, Waitress will end its Broadway run on January 5, 2020. By the time it closes it will have played over 1,500 performances and has become the longest running show at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. With a production currently running in London's West End, there are also productions in the works for other cities around the world.
