My Favorite Movie Musicals

Who can resist a movie musical? It's such a wonderful feeling to be able to see your favorite shows from the comfort of your couch and sing along to all the wonderful songs we know and love. I certainly can't, so without further ado here are my favorite movie musicals.

1. Les Miserables - The Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman led adaption hit the silver screen back in 2012, and is one of the best movie musical adaptions. Also starring Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, and Russell Crowe, the cast performed at the Oscars in one of the best Academy Award moments ever.

2. Mamma Mia! - This Meryl Streep led film, also starring Amanda Seyfried, is the movie adaption of the incredibly well loved Mamma Mia! a story about Sophie, who invites all three of the men who could potentially be her father to her wedding. With the classic Abba songs that we all know and love, this movie never gets old.

3. The Sound of Music - Who can leave out this classic Julie Andrews film? My first introduction to movie musicals, this Rodgers and Hammerstein classic is still well loved to this day.

4. Hello, Dolly! - And to end my list, I'm bringing you back to a classic movie that has new interest with the stage version's return to the Great White Way. Barbra Streisand is an impeccable Dolly Levi and I wish she would play the role on Broadway. Can one of the producers make that happen after Bette Midler leaves??

Note: This post excludes filmed version of productions that are exclusive to BroadwayHD. More posts will be coming in the near future about BroadwayHD and its services, as well as posts about some of the my favorite productions from the content they have to offer.
